Refresh or Redesign?

Not every yard needs a full redesign. During the walkthrough we'll tell you which category you're in.

• Refresh: pull weeds, reshape bed lines, trim or remove overgrown plants, and top-dress with fresh mulch or rock
• Partial redesign: keep the healthy plants, replace the struggling ones, and add borders or color where it's needed
• Full install: new bed layout, soil prep, plant selection, edging, and ground cover for a new build or a complete makeover

Plants That Hold Up to Oklahoma Summers

Central Oklahoma is tough on landscaping. Long stretches of heat, drying wind, heavy clay in many Moore and Norman neighborhoods, and the occasional hard freeze all take their toll. A plant that looks great at a big-box store in April can be struggling by July.

We lean toward proven, heat- and drought-tolerant choices, and we match plants to the sun exposure of each bed. A west-facing bed that bakes all afternoon needs different plants than a shaded bed under a mature oak. We also think about mature size so shrubs don't swallow windows and walkways in a few years.

Soil Prep: The Part You Don't See

Heavy clay soil is common across the area. It holds water after rain, cracks when dry, and makes it hard for new roots to spread. Planting straight into it is one of the main reasons new landscaping fails.

When we install new plants, we loosen the planting area and work in amendments where needed so roots can establish. Beds are shaped to shed water away from the foundation instead of pooling against it.

Mulch vs. Rock

Both have a place. The right choice depends on how you use the bed, how much maintenance you want, and the look of your home.

• Mulch keeps roots cooler, holds moisture, breaks down to improve the soil, and looks natural — but it needs topping off, usually once a year
• Rock lasts much longer and works well in hot, full-sun beds or near the foundation — but it holds heat and doesn't improve the soil
• Many homes look best with a mix: mulch in planted beds, rock in narrow strips and drainage areas

Borders and Clean Bed Lines

A defined edge between lawn and bed is what makes landscaping look finished. It also keeps Bermuda grass — which spreads aggressively by runners — from creeping into your beds.

We can cut a clean natural edge, or install stone, paver, or steel borders for a more permanent line. Curved beds are laid out to be easy to mow around, so your maintenance stays simple.

Our Process

First, we walk the property with you and talk through what you like, what bothers you, and how much upkeep you want. Then we give you a clear, flat quote for the work. On install day we prep, plant, edge, and mulch, then clean up so the only sign we were there is the finished beds. If you're on a mowing plan, we'll keep an eye on the new plantings on every visit.
